Manicómio (which translates as "Asylum") is a space for artistic creation and innovation in Lisbon, (re)known for a variety of projects that combine art, creativity, social transformation, human rights and mental health. At the heart of the project, and as has been the case from the very beginning, stand contemporary artists who struggle with mental
illness.

Located in Lisbon, Manicómio combines a workspace, studio and gallery, where there is no shame in talking about mental illness. A space where, beyond artistic innovation, contemporary art intersects with other fields, such as human rights and mental health. Examples of this are the projects Nós os Loucos and Consultas sem Paredes. Manicómio also develops projects in design and communication, training, immersive programs, and consulting, always reproducing its own methodology
